Class 1 dangerous goods: how and with what to transport safely?
Which truck should be chosen to transport dangerous goods of the first class? To answer this question, it is worth realizing that the transportation process depends on two factors, namely:
· From the amount of cargo;
· From the nature of transportation.
According to the European Agreement, which regulates the international road transportation of dangerous goods (under the abbreviation DOPNV/ADR), only four types of specialized vehicles can be used for such movement. DOPNV/ADR is the main document that describes how the safe transportation of Class 1 cargo takes place.
First of all, specialized vehicles EX/II and EX/III are used for transporting dangerous goods. They are ideal for packaging and safe transportation, meet all the requirements of the European Agreement. Before the transport unit is sent on the road, it is marked with orange plates. The vehicle, in turn, is marked with large danger signs to alert all oncoming road users.
Compliance with EX/II and EX/III is confirmed by the certificate of approval of these vehicles for the transportation of dangerous goods. Both machines can be used for this type of transportation, the difference is only in the maximum amount of cargo that can be safely placed in the truck.
According to the European agreement, it is possible to calculate the maximum permissible volume of explosives contained in first-class cargo for one vehicle that complies with European standards:
